By early 2026 the category was suddenly full: WPC's count of Qi2.2 certified products went from 69 in August 2025 to 637 by the end of February 2026, roughly a ninefold jump in seven months. The number is not the interesting part — the shape of the curve is. It accelerated every month instead of spiking and flattening. That tells you 25W magnetic charging has crossed the trial phase and is walking into the mainstream.
From 69 to 637: what the curve actually says
Why did mass adoption land in 2026 rather than 2024 or early 2025? Three forces converged. That clause is exactly why certified supply grew far slower than the marketing claims that simply print '25W' without passing a temperature-rise test. Read 637 as certified model listings, not shipped units — color and regional variants may be counted separately. But it is a confidence signal: hundreds of engineering teams chose to redesign their thermal structure to pass a test they could have skipped. That is what standard adoption looks like.
Which type is worth replacing in 2026
For everyday users, 25W finally puts wireless on par with a 25W wired charger — from empty to full in about 1.5 hours, and it still climbs while you scroll video. That gives a real reason to retire the old 15W magnetic pad or the plain puck on the nightstand. By certification mix in the first half of 2026, multi-device stations (3-in-1 or 4-in-1) take about 30%, the largest slice; magnetic power banks about 27%; car mounts about 21%; single-device desktop about 15%. One line: the most useful form in 2026 is not 'a pad' but 'a station' where phone, earbuds and watch all charge at once.
A few things to remember before buying: the Qi2.2 mark matters more than the wattage number, and a '25W' label without certification does not count; pick a 3-in-1 or multi-device station for a clean desk; if you travel often, only a Qi2.2 magnetic power bank truly does 25W magnetic charging rather than the old 15W tier.
