Home wireless charging is old news. What is quietly accelerating in 2026 is the public desktop, airports, hotels and cafes. Where they once pointed you to a QR code for a rental power bank, more venues now embed a charging pad straight into the table.
Hospitality is the fastest deployment segment
Elecdov's 2026 regional analysis names travel and hospitality as the fastest-growing slice: hotels and lounges are rolling out multi-device pads in bulk so guests arrive powered. The logic is uniform standards, once everything certifies against the same WPC rules, one Qi2.2 pad works anywhere, and a hotel chain can deploy a single SKU worldwide without per-country re-engineering.
For the operator, the math is practical. One embedded multi-device pad replaces a row of sockets and a tangle of easy-to-lose cables, cutting cleaning and maintenance. For the guest it is a drop-and-charge experience that deletes the nowhere-to-charge complaint. Asia-Pacific, with its fast flagship cycles and quick factory qualification, is pushing hardest in this segment.
From pilot to default, one thing stands in the way
But for public spaces to move from trial to default, an old problem remains: power and compatibility. A public pad must feed a phone, watch and earbuds at once and recognize each brand's alignment. Qi2.2's magnetic alignment simplifies that, and 25W gives fast enough real backing, so 2026 is the year we see scattered pilots turn into scaled rollouts.
For brands and factories chasing this business, the takeaway is blunt: stop selling single pads, sell an embeddable, multi-device, Qi2.2-certified system. The public-desktop business is won not by being cheapest but by shipping a plan an operator can deploy once and forget.
